Why plant trees in Haiti?

Haiti has less than 2% of natural forest left from severe deforestation. This rebuilds the environment where the Bicknell's Thrush and many other endangered birds call home for the winter, as well as provide thousands of jobs, creating sustainable economic development opportunities, at the same time rebuilding biodiversity that was destroyed from deforestation.

History

Working with Fondation Seguin in Haiti since 2006 we have helped plant hundreds of thousands of rare Caribbean pine trees in the mountains of Seguin to reforest the endangered Bicknell's Thrush habitat using leading edge technologies to rebuild the soil, protect plants from drought and disease, water conservation, and to ensure sustainable growth.
